Clothes Feelings 4.

I've always really enjoyed outfit posts- I love seeing what people are wearing and learning why. I want to talk about how clothes make me feel. Join me if you’d like!

When I make or buy a new article of clothing this is the setting that I hold it up against. If I can imagine myself picking up stones, climbing a tree or squatting among wildflowers while wearing said object then I know it will serve most of my needs, even the city ones*. What is that saying- dress for the job you want? I’d like to be a naturalist! I’d like to be an oak savannah whose root tips kiss the lake. I’d like to be a bit of quartz wind-teased out of the dunes. I’d like to be a wild rosehip, growing sweeter with each frost.

For stormy lake days, from the top down:

Handknit balaclava (made in this incredible wool)

Down jacket (thrifted)

Leather and faux shearling mittens (the warmest, thrifted)

Jeans (Levi’s, thrifted brand new and they must be vintage because I can’t find them anywhere!)

Ancient Doc Marten Boots (thrifted almost a decade ago, and they were old then.)

Not visible, but crucial for warmth:

Cotton waffle weave long-johns (a trade from these fine folks)

Vintage duofold long sleeve shirt (wool on the outside, cotton on the inside. From here.)

Wool sweater (handknit)

Wool socks (handknit)

*Funeral shoes may be the exception.
