Hope Chest

We are moving apartments this summer. In anticipation of (please, universe) MORE SPACE I’ve been putting together a little collection of things for a new home zone.

So far my hope chest contains:

1 “pig” cutting board (named Bruno). Currently outside shedding his lacquer. Soon to be stripped, sanded and oiled. In hope of more than one square foot of counter space.

1 linen and wool potholder, to replace a tattered one that I’ll retire. In hope of many hot meals and a kitchen full of hooks and shelves and fam.

1 small wall quilt, an anniversary gift for Tavi that we’ll hang above our bed in the new space. In hope of some (lots of) lovin’ ;)

1 rag rug, thrifted and mended. In hope of wood floors and a studio space, however small.

On mending rag rugs: this was my first time! Haha can you tell? I thrifted the rug already busted ($4 baby!) and it came apart a bit more in the washer, necessitating a repair. A more patient mender could probably replicate the warp and hide those mends, but I was only aiming for whole and less likely to snag bare toes.
